About The Inn & Tavern at Meander:

The Inn & Tavern at Meander is a beautiful 1766 historic country inn offering accommodations and casual dining, surrounded by 80 acres of rolling landscapes in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A stay at Meander will give you a glimpse into the rich history of Central Virginia. George Washington stayed on the property for over a month after the French and Indian War, and Meander was a favorite retreat for Thomas Jefferson, who was a regular dinner guest on his way to the White House from his Monticello Estate. In 1862, Stonewall Jackson famously camped on the front lawn ahead of the Battle of Cedar Mountain. America’s forefathers have dined here, warmed by our fire and illuminated by candlelight. Today we strive to keep that tradition alive by providing a welcoming atmosphere and offering casual dining by Meander’s Executive Chef, Greer Brannock that includes both lite fare and diverse entrees inspired by the local area and our past. We offer indoor seating in our historic dining room, parlor room, or private dining room. We also offer outdoor seating on our back porch, fountain patio, or on one of our picnic tables on the Meander Lawn with incredible views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the best sunsets in the area.
