Frank Solivan & Jilian Lea
The duo is a pairing of bluegrass superstar and multi-Grammy nominee, Frank Solivan and Celtic-folk artist, Jillian Lea. The raw simplicity and intimate harmonies of their music is a melding of bluegrass, Celtic, classic Country, jazz, and folk.
Frank Solivan is a multi-Grammy nominee, IBMA award recipient, and multi-instrumentalist who sings with power and passion and writes articulate songs that go straight to the heart. He combines the pure, hard drive of classic bluegrass with contemporary twenty-first century acoustic music sophistication. He has been nominated for many IBMA awards including Male Vocalist of the Year, Instrumental Player of the Year (Mandolin), Instrumental Group of the Year, and more. He is known for his blistering chops on the mandolin, and is also a talented fiddle and guitar player. Frank and his regular band, Dirty Kitchen have toured around the world and racked up a steady stream of awards and nominations, including 2 GRAMMY nominations and 2 awards for IBMA Instrumental Group of the Year.
Jillian Lea grew up playing classical, folk, jazz, and Celtic music with her twin sister and music loving parents. She started performing as a young girl with her sister and mother at church and later, continuing their spiritual development, moved to Irish pubs. She was classically trained on the flute at George Mason University before focusing more attention on the pennywhistle. In more recent years, she has become enamored with the world of bluegrass and the upright bass. Jillian has toured with regional and national acts for decades performing and teaching workshops throughout the U.S., Virgin Islands, France, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic.
